My Photo Resources - The 2012 Edition ('cause I like to share) / Printing (@provisia)

[Intro]

I often get asked about the various methods I use to keep me on point as far a my digital workflow and web presence are concerned.

Thing is that I've learned a few tricks and picked up a few tools along the way to keep me active and relevant in this passion of mine and so I thought I'd go ahead and lay a few out for you just for the sake of sharing and with hopes they can help you on your path of practicality and efficiency.

In this series, where I hope to cover various elements of my workflow, I'll withhold from going into the whys and why-nots of these various resources, just specifying however that they're shared with you in no particular order of preference, importance, or authority. I have no personal benefit nor do I get any kickbacks from any of the people/services mentioned  -

I have to emphasize that I am no way advocating using either one of these products or services as the best and greatest. I'm a guy of simple choices and decisions and make no excuses for the fact that my methods or preferences are my own.

In short - these are tools that work for me. Use them if you WANT to, not because you believe for some odd reason that I suggested you HAVE to.

Printing

I love to print. I really do. Mostly large formats (16x24 or higher...)

To me, there's no greater feeling than to be able to hold, feel and admire your finished product. I've noticed that printing has become somewhat of an unappreciated element of most people's digital workflow.

Given - we're at a point in photography where the physical medium has made way for the digital, and like a rotary phone, most people don't have a use for it anymore.

Chances are indeed very good most of your work will be shared on Facebook and Flickr or the like, so if 72dpi is your mark, then this part of the post isn't for you.

Truth be told, I don't print every shot I take - but I do take a second to print the shots I'm most proud of. And for that, just like the place I take my car for a good wash, even though I know I could do myself, nothing beats the professional and stellar team at Provisia Digital Imaging right here in Montreal.

I happen to be a big supporter of local businesses in my area. As a basic consumer, price is not always the deciding factor - satisfaction on the other hand, is.

They're professionals - and they mean it. Just take your pick:

Personalized service, on-site assistance, multiple self-service workstations with all the software you need for additional editing, top of the line equipment(large prints? They've got your number...) professional/courteous and knowledgeable staff, daily printer calibration...

Oh, and did I mention - spectacular turnover time...with prices being among the best in town.

Online or in person(with office hours convenient for most people) - they have never let me down once and remain my go-to people for all my prints.

You can of course find them on Facebook and Twitter but I recommend you shoot them an email.

Go ahead - ask for Mike.
